Imperial Contracting’s conversion of a former Knights Inn into approximately 100 permanent supportive housing units shifts from major construction to finish work and closeout
Palmdale, California | October 2026 — Imperial Contracting has moved the Antelope Hills Supportive Housing redevelopment from rough-in construction into finishes and closeout across much of the site. The project is converting the former Knights Inn in Palmdale into approximately 100 permanent supportive housing units in partnership with Hope the Mission.
A new progress video shows the current state of the site, following Imperial’s July 2026 construction update.
Progress Since July
Demolition, framing, roofing and insulation are substantially complete, along with most of the major plumbing, mechanical and electrical work in the residential buildings. Cabinets, countertops, drywall and interior painting are well advanced, and many units are now in final finishes and trim-out.
Current work focuses on flooring, window installation and final building systems in the residential units. The community building is moving from rough-in into drywall and finishes. On the site, crews are completing the storm-drain system, domestic water lines, fencing, lighting, landscaping and paving ahead of inspections and closeout.
“Antelope Hills has made significant progress over the past several months, with residential units, community amenities, and site infrastructure all moving steadily forward,” said James Bialzik, Vice President of Construction and Project Executive at Imperial Contracting. “As we transition from major construction activities into finishes and final site improvements, the project team remains focused on delivering a high-quality redevelopment that will provide much-needed affordable housing and community amenities for Palmdale residents.”
Building on Imperial’s Homekey Portfolio
Antelope Hills follows two Project Homekey adaptive reuse projects Imperial completed in Long Beach in 2025:
- Zephyr: a former Holiday Inn converted into 137 permanent supportive housing units
- Crescent: a former Motel 6 converted into 40 permanent supportive housing units
